Missoula County Grants and Community Programs staff are applying for a grant that would support continuation of a home rehabilitation program that serves low- to moderate-income homeowners in Missoula County outside Missoula city limits. The Community Development Block Grant, available through the Montana Department of Commerce’s Housing Stabilization Program, would fund the District XI Human Resource Council program that provides comprehensive rehabilitation services that ensure qualifying homes are safe, decent, sanitary and accessible, and that preserve a home's structural integrity and prevent further deterioration.
The commissioners held a hearing Thursday, July 28, and collected public comments regarding the proposed submission of the application to the Montana Department of Commerce.
The application to the Montana Department of Commerce is due three months after the July 28 public hearing. If the application is successful, Missoula County will enter a five-year agreement with the Department of Commerce. The District XI Human Resource Council will identify eligible housing rehabilitation projects, and Missoula County will request funds from the Department of Commerce to cover costs of rehabilitation activities based on the availability of funds on a first-come, first-served basis.
