1887 Unnamed Petitioned Road Abandonment
Property owners between Waldo Road and I-90 have petitioned the Missoula County Commissioners to abandon an unnamed public right-of-way that was initially created in 1887 that lies between Waldo Road and I-90. You can find the petition online at missoulaproperty.us or in the Clerk & Recorder's Office recorded at Book 1098 Page 934. All affected landowners have signed the petition. According to the petition, the abandonment of the right-of-way is necessary and advantageous for the following reasons; "The right-of-way was previously re-aligned to follow roads within Gallatin Estates on 1/28/2009. Gallatin Estates has not yet been platted. Adjacent O’Keefe Ranch Estates is being platted and the right-of-way interferes with proposed lots in both subdivisions."
Staff will present the petition to the commissioners at their public meeting at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2024, where they will hear public comment, set a time to view the proposed road abandonment, and set a date for the second hearing on the petition. Join the meeting in the Sophie Moiese Room of the Missoula County Courthouse Annex, 200 W. Broadway, Missoula, or via Microsoft Teams. Find the agenda and link to join the meeting.
