Petition for Abandonment of Road lying within Burns Addition

The property owners within Burns Addition have petitioned the Missoula County Commissioners to abandon the public right-of-way described as Right of way for future road along the northern boundary of Burns Addition, Lot # 1 & 10, located in Section 30, T13N, R19W.. You can find the petition online at missoulaproperty.us (https://gis.missoulacounty.us/propertyinformation/(External link)) or in the Clerk & Recorder's Office recorded at Book 1116 Page 765. All affected landowners have signed the petition. According to the petition, the abandonment of the right-of-way is necessary and advantageous for the following reasons; "Abandonment is advantageous to Missoula County in that it will produce additional property tax each year from the resulting larger area of the Burns Addition. ROW is already established for current homesites. Clar Dr. design is intended to be a hammer head design to county standards. Lot 1 home would be negatively affected if roadway is placed there."

Staff will present the petition to the Commissioners at their Public Meeting at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025, where they will hear public comment. A view of the proposed road abandonment has been set for Sept. 16, 2025 at 3:00 PM with Commissioner Slotnick. Join the meetings in the Sophie Moiese Room of the Missoula County Courthouse Annex, 200 W. Broadway, Missoula, or via Microsoft Teams.
