Agreement reached to finalize Green Power Program design, file for state approval

Missoula County and the City of Missoula have signed an agreement with NorthWestern Energy, under which the utility will finalize its review of the Green Power Program (GPP) by June 1, 2026. If the Board of County Commissioners and City Council then agree to the final program design, under the terms of the agreement, NorthWestern will file an application for GPP approval by the Montana Public Service Commission by Sept. 15, 2026.

The Montana Public Service Commission must ultimately approve the Green Power Program before customers can subscribe to, or construction can begin on, the GPP resource.
