Missoula County's Trails Bond Program
Missoula County’s Trails Bond Program
In November 2014, Missoula city and county residents approved a $42 million countywide Parks & Trails Bond to expand or improve park and recreational opportunities in Missoula County. Specifically, bond funding went towards three initiatives:
$38 Millon – Full development of Fort Missoula Regional Park
$3 Millon – Creation of the County Trails Bond program
$1 Millon – Upgrading and replacing playgrounds across multiple City Parks.
The $3 million set aside for the County Trails Bond program is intended to financially support trail development across Missoula County. These trail projects are supposed to provide additional opportunities for recreation, access to public lands, and connections between communities.
The Trails Bond Program encourages applications for all types of trails – commuter, recreational, fitness, equestrian, ski trails and more. Project sponsors are asked to demonstrate community support through partnerships and secured or pending project funding sources.
