Opportunity Resources Inc. Howard Street Group Homes Rehabilitation Project
Project Description
Missoula County is applying for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to support the rehabilitation of the Howard Street Group Homes, a facility that provides shelter and support for 16 individuals with severe disabilities.
Opportunity Resources Inc. operates the facility, which needs rehabilitation, including replacing aging roofs, updating eight bathrooms to improve ADA accessibility and repairing the cracked and potholed driveways.
Opportunity Resources asked the county to apply for the grant on their behalf. As the Howard Street Group Homes is outside city limits, it is not eligible for City of Missoula CDBG funding. Missoula County is the only eligible applicant and will compete for CDBG funding with other non-entitlement communities across the state. The county commissioners approved county staff to work on this application at a recent administrative public meeting.
County staff are now seeking public comment in support of this project to help strengthen the grant application.
What is a Community Development Block Grant?
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and supports eligible community development projects. Activities may address needs such as infrastructure, economic development, community facilities, housing development and housing rehabilitation. CDBG funding must benefit low-to-moderate income individuals and communities.
