Public Engagement

Read about this community engagement site, Missoula County Voice, on our About page.

Community needs assessment: Grants and Community Programs Division conducts an annual community needs assessment to gauge the community’s interests and funding priorities. The needs assessment is used to determine how to effectively use potential state and federal funds and to ensure that community development projects reflect community needs.

Community Health Assessment: The Community Health Assessment, which the County performs every few years, helps Missoula Public Health maintain accreditation through the Public Health Accreditation Board. Though accreditation is voluntary, since 2014 MPH’s status as an accredited health department has held their programs to a higher level of effectiveness, transparency and accountability from those they serve. The health assessment is a way for MPH to continually assess the community's overall health and identify a broad array of health promoting factors and opportunities for health improvement. Community Conversations in Rural Areas: Missoula County has started holding community conversation events in rural areas of the County to help residents feel heard, and help staff learn more about what the concerns or thoughts residents have related to County services in those areas. These conversations have or will take place in Seeley Lake, Swan Valley, East Missoula, Bonner-Milltown, Lolo, Frenchtown/West Valley area, Greenough/Potomac area, Clinton and Evaro.
